Gibraltar is a British overseas territory at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula. 426 meters high limestone rock rises above its residential quarters. Gibraltar was settled by the Moors in the Middle Ages, then conquered by the Spaniards, and in 1713 transferred to Britain. Ancient fortifications have been preserved on its territory, including the Moorish castle, built in the 14th century, and the Great Siege Tunnels of the 18th century, expanded during World War II.
